TFT Set 16 – The Best Utility Units (Organized by Cost)

Set 16 has a lot of explosive carries, but fights are often decided by something less obvious: utility. Shred, Sunder, Chill, Burn, Wound—these effects quietly win fights by cutting tank stats, slowing backlines, and shutting down healing. If you like slotting in one or two “glue units” that boost your whole board, this guide breaks down every champion with meaningful combat utility, organized by cost.

⭐ 1-Cost Units

Kog’Maw – Armor & MR Shred

Kog’s Caustic Spittle reduces both Armor and Magic Resist in a small area. It’s great for early trades and still useful when your carries come online.

⭐⭐ 2-Cost Units

Ashe – Chill

Her cone shot applies a 30% attack speed slow. It hits a wide angle and helps your frontline live longer.

Neeko – AoE Chill

Neeko slams the ground and Chills enemies around her. It’s reliable frontline disruption, especially in scrappy early fights.

Yorick (Unlock) – Chill + Increased Mana Cost

Yorick’s mist projectile applies a small Chill and forces the enemy’s next spell to cost more mana. Annoying for casters and strong in long battles.

Aphelios – Sunder

When he uses Infernum, his autos apply 30% Armor shred. If your comp deals AD damage, this makes a huge difference.

⭐⭐⭐ 3-Cost Units

Zoe – MR Shred

Anything Zoe damages gets 30% reduced Magic Resist. She’s one of the strongest plug-and-play AP amplifiers in the set.

Sejuani – Big Chill + Conditional Stun

Sejuani’s AoE applies a heavy Chill, and if the target was already Chilled, she stuns them. She’s core to Freljord-style disruption.

Gangplank – Armor Break

Barrel explosions reduce Armor, even more when they crit. Helps crack through tanky frontlines.

Leona – Burn + Wound

Leona’s ult burns targets and reduces their healing. She’s extremely effective into sustain-heavy boards.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4-Cost Units

Braum – Reactive Chill

His shield releases a wave whenever it’s hit, applying a 30% Chill to nearby enemies. Great for slowing down divers and bruisers.

Diana (Unlock) – Damage Reduction

Diana marks enemies with Moonlit, causing them to deal less damage. It’s subtle but noticeably reduces incoming burst.

Garen – Armor & MR Reduction

Each tick of his spin lowers Armor and Magic Resist. He scales well into late game and buffs both AP and AD carries.

Singed (Unlock) – Poison Trail

Singed leaves a poison trail behind him that damages enemies over time. Strong against melee-heavy boards.

Disruptors (Ekko, Gwen, Malzahar, Seraphine, Azir) – Damage Down

Disruptors apply Dazzle, making enemies deal less damage while also taking more from Disruptors. It adds a steady layer of survivability to your team.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Cost Units

Ornn – Teamwide Chill

Ornn’s knockup wave Chills every enemy it touches. It softens entire enemy lines and opens the fight on your terms.

Annie – Global Burn + Wound

Annie permanently Burns and Wounds all enemies on the map. It’s one of the strongest anti-heal tools in the set.

Aatrox – Sunder

His wide slashes apply Sunder across multiple enemies. Great for prepping entire clumps for your carries.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 7-Cost Units

Ryze (Zaun Active) – Heavy Poison

When Ryze rolls Zaun, his abilities apply a strong Poison DoT. It hits hard in long, drawn-out fights.

Utility doesn’t always show up in DPS meters, but it wins fights. Adding one or two of these units often gives your comp exactly what it’s missing!
